The city council allocates €122,000 in aid to the students of the municipality for the 2023/2024 academic year
The City Council of the Historic Village of Santiago del Teide has allocated for this academic year 2023/2024, specifically, the amount of €122,000 in aid for the students of the municipality.
Such aid is for rent, study aid, acquisition of textbooks and / or school material and for nursery schools; emphasising that all of them have the motivation to facilitate access to education and cover the expenses that these entail for the students themselves and their families.
The consistory has allocated a total of 40,000 euros in rental aid for university students and training cycles and € 60,000 in study aid. For the aid for the acquisition of textbooks and / or school materials, the city council has allocated a total of €12,000, highlighting that the beneficiaries of this correspond to the students enrolled in the levels of Early Childhood Education, Primary and Compulsory Secondary; although, in this case, the amount is fixed according to the level of education of the minor and the family situation of the applicants.
Finally, it allocated €10,000 in aid for families with children enrolled in kindergartens of the first cycle of early childhood education from 0 to 3 years, both in public and private kindergartens in the municipality of Santiago del Teide or in other municipalities.
Emilio Navarro, mayor of Santiago del Teide points out that "we are aware of how far we are from the main teaching centres of the island and, above all, of the joint effort that both families and students make daily to be able to study outside the municipality. That is why, our clear commitment to the training and education of our students with the improvement year after year of the budget items for this purpose and that with them we reach more students."
