The city council organises this Sunday, July 2, the 16th edition of the staging of the barter "Al Paso de la Cumbre"

It is intended to recall the most ancestral form of "trade" between people from different municipalities

The City Council of Santiago del Teide in collaboration with the Cabildo de Tenerife through the Tenerife Rural Foundation will celebrate this coming Sunday, July 2, the 16th edition of the Barter Staging called "Al Paso de la Cumbre 2023". As in previous editions, the participation of a large number of people dressed in the costumes worn by the peasantry at that time is foreseen, among which were the caciques, the goats, the witches, the cochineros, the dairy, the bakers ... for this, belongings, farming tools, etc., used in the past, are incorporated into this staging.

It should be noted that the activity has its raison d'être in the tribute to the Canarian generations who travelled the roads and paths of the archipelago looking for family livelihood; being, therefore, one of its fundamental objectives the revaluation of the products that were part of the exchange system and which affected the social relations that were established as a result of these commercial transactions.

In this sense, those people who want to enjoy the staging of the barter of products that was carried out in the areas not many years ago, can do it at the different meeting points prepared for the occasion:

- 09:30 hours in San Francisco de La Montañeta.

- 11:00 am in San José de Los Llanos.

- 1:00 p.m. in the public square of Santiago del Teide - a time when attendees can enjoy the performance of the Paradise group.

For more information, they should contact the council through the phone 922 86 31 27, ext. 300 and/or 302.
