November 29, 2023 – Marianne Vos once again chooses Tenerife to get ready. The Jumbo Visma cyclist is preparing these days in Santiago del Teide, a municipality that is launching the Cycling Friendly seal. Next December 6th he will ride with local athletes to celebrate.

This Wednesday a meeting with Marianne Vos was held at the Landmar Playa la Arena hotel in which the new certification of Santiago del Teide as a Cycling Friendly destination was presented to society. She was attended by the media and members of the Risco Blanco Cycling Club, who will have the opportunity to train with her in just a week. José María Teixidó, director of the hotel establishment, thanked the Dutch athlete for once again choosing Landmar Hotels to prepare for the season, repeating the plan that he already followed last March and that gave him such good results in the Vuelta a España.

For his part, Juan Carlos González, Councilor for Sports of the Municipality, highlighted the “pride and honor” that it is for Santiago del Teide to have an Olympic champion carrying out her training in the area, and took advantage of the occasion to make an invitation to the entire Jumbo Visma team: “It would be very important for the destination,” he indicated with longing.

In the words of González, “we are in a beautiful place to cycle and we have the Cycling Friendly certification.” Regarding the event on the 6th, the mayor explained that the training will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will leave the doors of the Landmar Playa La Arena hotel. A maximum of 30 cyclists residing in the municipality and members of the Risco Blanco Club will participate in it.

“Training with one of the best in history cannot be done every day, and we are sure that they will be very excited,” he concluded.

Balance at destination

Marianne Vos took advantage of the meeting with the media to highlight the Tenerife destination and highlight the advantages of being able to train and rest in an unbeatable environment. “In life everything is about balance, and here we have the best conditions to do demanding training and enjoy good food, good facilities and good rest,” he stated.

“When we left Holland to come to Tenerife, the temperatures were around 0 degrees. That already favors everything. Being able to train on the flat or on hills and adapt it to our time of the season is ideal.” Likewise, he emphasized the benefits of finding everything in the same environment.

After attending to the media, Marianne accompanied the attendees to the Cycling room of the Landmar Playa la Arena hotel, a space set up for those guests who travel to Tenerife and need to keep their bicycles in the best condition.
