The City Council closes Los Guíos Beach for security reasons before the start of the improvement works of Calle Las Adelfas
They will take place from September 4 and partial openings of the beach will be developed progressively and during the course of the work
From the City Council of the Historic Village of Santiago del Teide we communicate that, from next September 4 and until the completion of the works, the Los Guíos Beach will be completely closed on the occasion of the start of the improvement and conditioning works of Calle Las Adelfas, to safeguard the safety of neighbours and visitors. During the execution of the works, the optional management that directs them, in coordination with the consistory, will consider the possibility of making partial openings from the first week of their development, as long as security conditions allow it.
With regard to the work that will be carried out, this action contemplates, among other aspects, the execution of a viewpoint that will be located approximately 2 metres on the slope that makes up the cliff of Los Guíos Beach, also allowing an overhanging extension of the sidewalk with which a rest space and a viewpoint will be created that will allow a panoramic view of the majestic cliffs.
Given this, the mayor of the City Council of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, has assured that " although it is true that the slope that makes up the cliff of Los Guíos Beach is arched by protective meshes, from the consistory our main task is always to safeguard to the maximum the safety of our neighbours and those who visit us, hence the consistory has made the determination of the closure of the beach in the face of the previous antecedents of landslides of the slope, for which I ask for the collaboration of the population so that we can soon enjoy the new viewpoint and Of the incredible views that await us with their execution."
