The mayor presented the book "Women of Fire and Lava. The next generation"
Daughters, granddaughters, nieces or daughters-in-law of the protagonists of the first edition of the book have participated.
Yesterday afternoon, Thursday, March 7, Mayor Emilio Navarro presented the book "Women of Fire and Lava. The next generation" that compiles the perception of a representative group of participants in close relationship with those older women who starred in "Women of fire and lava. Memories of the rural woman of Santiago del Teide" which was published in 2021.
In the book promoted and financed by the city council and produced by the Trivo Local Solutions entity, the participants have been able to express their experiences and personal experiences with the incorporation of the gender perspective as a starting point.
The event that is part of the campaign around 8M was attended by different members of the government group and the group "Caracolas" performed, which also presented at said event the song created for the occasion titled “De lava y fire".
The women who have participated in this initiative and who have been recognized are mostly daughters, granddaughters, nieces or daughters-in-law of the protagonists of the first edition are: Ana Celia Delgado Trujillo, Ana Rosalinda Quintero Rolo, Ángela María Martín Trujillo, Ángeles Dorta Linares, Ilda Rodríguez Lorenzo, María Ascensión Mora Díaz, María de los Ángeles Ramírez Alegría, María Esther Díaz Ramos, Priscila García Santana and Graciela Trujillo Fortes, who has been the Waitress of Santa Ana de Tamaimo for more than 45 years.
In addition, the work of different groups that have existed and exist in the municipality was recognized, such as the Brotherhood of the Lord of the Holy Sepulcher of Arguayo, the Cherfe Neighborhood Association, the Cherfe Theater and the Magnificent 7 of Los Gigantes.
